Adopt-a-Family

Aviara Oaks proudly supports the Carlsbad Christmas Bureau each year with the Adopt-a-Family Project, providing gifts to one needy Carlsbad family for every class during the Holiday Season. 

Each classroom is assigned a family and buying groups are created by student number. While your student is assigned to a buying group, participation is optional. The CCB will make sure recipients receive gifts as long as they are properly labeled. 

Flyers go home in late November and gifts are due in early December. Watch the Eagle Express and Eblast for information about this year's Adopt-a-Family. 

Adopt-a-Family is an optional program to participate in. 

Each classroom has a box for their assigned family. You can find your form in the Eagle Express before Thanksgiving Break or here are PDFs to look up on your phone. 

Please send your wrapped gifts with your student to school the week of December 2 - December 6th. There is a box in each classroom for gifts. Be certain to mark them properly as instructed on your form. 

Volunteers are needed for Tuesday, December 10th to organize the gift for pickup. Join the Sign Up Genius today. 

Remember -- Participation is Optional 

• Your classroom flyer will come home in the Eagle Express. A PDF is also posted above.
• Using your student's Classroom Number -- a 1 or 2 digit number usually found on the Eagle Express -- look up what buying group you have been assigned. 
• Bring your wrapped and labeled gift to school to be delivered to the Carlsbad Christmas Bureau. 
• Label your gift using the information on your flyer. What is needed is the Family # and Recipient Info Only. (Boy/Girl & age) You do not need to put the teacher's name, but may put that it is from you family. 

Tips on Gift Buying 

• Family Special Requests on the flyer are optional. Add "Special Request Item" to your label if you purchase one of these so the Bureau knows. 
• Team up with classmates to buy more expensive items, like bikes. 
• Take advantage of Black Friday sales team up with friends for larger purchases. If you dare to venture out, please keep these families in mind.
• Take advantage of mark down and clearances throughout the year. Save your children's unopened birthday gifts to pass along to someone more in need. Just be certain to label the gift "Any Family and Boy/Girl & Age" if the gift does not match your assigned family. The Bureau will pull these at their warehouse.
• You don't need to limit yourself to what is on the flyer. Home goods, non-perishable foods, books, toiletries, gift certificates (please write the amount on the envelope), and your favorite gifts are always great items to give.

• Remember, this is about our students sharing with those in need to build the Carlsbad Community. It takes just a little effort to make a big difference.
